It’s Manny Jr. Remember the original Manny?
He lived in our flower pot all year long. We watched him eat all the bad bugs, shed his skin, and grow throughout the season. Sadly, we actually watched him die too. As summer turned to fall he slowed down. When fall was turning to winter and he was nearing the end we set him in a sunny spot to spend his last few hours. Sounds crazy, but we were a little attached to him after seeing him around so much!
Luckily Manny (or rather Manny’s gal) left some friends for this year. Manny was probably actually eaten since the female mantis eats the male because the protein helps with egg development. How’s that for a nutrition lesson?!
While tending to the flowers on our patio I actually found three Manny Jr’s. Hopefully they all survive to adulthood and we have many more Manny’s to watch over the years. There’s nothing like outdoor summer entertainment!Pin It
