If you learn nothing else from reading this blog, I hope you learn this: everyone can cook.
You just have to try it. Just like anything else in life, sometimes it will go well and sometimes it won’t. You’ll get better with practice and it will get easier. And in the end it will be worth your time.
When I stop and think, I often find it hard to believe that you’re going to take any cooking advice from me. I can’t follow a recipe to save my life and my idea of cooking is just throwing things together and hoping for the best. I don’t know cooking terms and I didn’t go to culinary school.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m the proof that really everyone can cook.
This mornings concoction is a perfect example. I took everything I picked from the garden, chopped it, threw it in a pot, added some lentils and barley, and called it soup. Is it the best soup I ever ate? No no. Not even close. However, it is good. Served with a dollop of sour cream and some black bean chips it made a lovely lunch. It will also make some great packed lunches for the work week and an easy dinner. To boot, there was even enough to put a batch in the freezer.
So don’t be afraid to experiment in the kitchen. If nothing else you can start with a “garden soup.” ![]()
