Romantic Dinner

Romantic Dinner

Back in the day when I had a three year old, a one year old and a newborn, and we had one income, I had to become inventive. I have no idea what a babysitter costs today, but back then to have a good babysitter it was a chunk of change to pay them. Which they deserved. But with one income, a growing family we had to be cautious with the money. So to keep date nights going and have special time with the hubby, I came up with Romantic Dinner night. The kids loved it, that’s when they got to eat that orange Mac and cheese, or frozen pizza, in exchange for watching TV in their room, so hubby and I could spend time together.

This was when I would buy more extravagant foods like steak, seafood and other things the kids would never eat at that age. Grab a new recipe and usually be cooking all day. Romantic Dinner was always a great excuse to try something new! Set the table like it was a 5 star restaurant, have cocktails and appies, and a conversation like adults. Thankful that the kids cooperated.

Even though the kids are all grown up and all but one has moved out, hubby and I still have romantic dinner, it’s something we both look forward too and enjoy.
