Hey there!

Welcome to my blog!

Am I early or just jonezin to garden?

So it’s February 20th 2024 and already have some seeds going. This year I’m so excited to get my garden on. So much work to do, considering my gardens have been pretty neglected the past few years, but this is the year to bring back order and detail to them. My work schedule this year is less demanding and the master gardener can get back to getting dirty and enjoying the fruits of my labor.

This year I am starting with perennial flowers and herds, never done them before, so something new for me. Pretty excited that my Lemongrass has already come up, it will have to be an indoor plant when weather gets cold here in Washington. Waiting on the lavender to peek through, I want to start more if I can get first round to start. I have plans for a lavender hedge, and buying plants is pretty expensive these days. I also started some rosemary, thyme, sage, mint and chives. My hubby built me a mud room that has excellent light, so hoping to have these be a year a round indoor herb garden, as well as some going outside. Also getting some Hollyhocks, zinnias and petunias going, I really want to start my own flower basket flowers, so keeping my fingers crossed.

The weather here in Washington is still pretty chilly and wet, so unless you are hardcore which I am not, I get outside when the weather is pretty fair to get a jump on the weeding and pruning, that can be endless, but this is my year!! I also have been rethinking some of the veggie gardens, and also thinking about putting a few raised beds, right outside the kitchen, for the convenience of a quick salad and things.

Will be checking back in when my buckets of dirt have sprouted, until then, hope you are getting your garden on!
